Chai masala is an Indian drink that consists of a few spices, black tea and milk with sugar. Each Indian family has its own chai recipe with different proportions and combination of spices. The spices that are most often used are ginger, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and sometimes fennel. Each spice adds its unique flavor and the incredible properties make this drink unforgettably tasty and healing. Cardamom neutralizes mucus forming properties of milk and detoxifies caffeine, and is probably the best and safest digestive stimulant. Cinnamon is a must have for coughs and colds, it warms up the body and of course helps with digestion. It is also known to lower cholesterol and treat diabetes. It helps decongest stuffy nose and fight any respiratory problems. Each spice complements the rest of the spices and also strengthens the properties of each.
